BRIEF SUMMARY

ThinkSTEM4Girls.org is a nonprofit program founded in the fall of 2025 to spark a passion for Math, Programming, and Science among girls, minorities, and underrepresented students. Founded with a compelling belief that knowledge in these fields is essential for success today, the program offers free online workshops for middle and high school students who need extra support or want to go beyond their school curriculum. These workshops are expected to give younger students a relatable mentor who not only teaches but inspires them to see themselves thriving in STEM.

SHREYA MAHENDRAN

Founder

Shreya Mahendran is a freshman in the Space and Engineering Academy at Merrill F. West High School in San Joaquin County with a strong passion for STEM. She has earned numerous awards in regional math competitions and is a NorCal MATHCOUNTS State Qualifier.

Shreya is actively involved in the WHS Robotics Club and HOSA leadership, and she also mentors fellow students in math. Her passion for continuous learning, coupled with her enthusiasm for STEM and dedication to empowering other girls, motivated her to launch this nonprofit program.

MY VISION

I believe that every student deserves the opportunity to dream big in STEM. At ThinkSTEM4Girls, my vision is to help young women and underserved students build the confidence, skills, and curiosity needed to succeed — whether they aspire to become doctors, engineers, data scientists, or innovators who shape the future.

MY STORY

As a middle schooler, I participated in several math competitions and began learning programming. Most of what I achieved came through self-learning, often without much guidance. I often wished I had a relatable mentor my age who could explain concepts in a simple, approachable way — someone I could ask questions to and clarify my doubts, instead of piecing things together from recordings without any live support.

My search eventually led me to a student mentor, and even though the experience was brief, it showed me how valuable such guidance can be. That realization inspired me to create ThinkSTEM4Girls.org, a nonprofit program where I can give back to the community by mentoring students like me. Through free, interactive workshops in math, coding, and science, I hope to make STEM more accessible and inspire more girls to pursue their interests with confidence.
